Meet Nona Holland
Hey there! I’m Nienke, aka Nona Holland and I inspire you to travel Indonesia. Since November 2020, I’ve been soaking up the beauty of Indonesia. What was meant to be a 4-month pit stop turned into a longer stay, thanks to the country’s allure and my Ambon-native boyfriend (aka Nyong Ambon).
I’m all about chasing new horizons and experiencing different flavors and cultures – foodie at heart, you know! This is also the reason why I left my home country, the Netherlands, when I was only 18 years old. I first moved to California in the Unites states, followed by obtaining my bachelors degree in International Business in Italy. I spent my last semester in London, followed by a 3-month volunteer project in Taiwan.
Come May 2023, I traded Bali’s familiarity, my home for 2.5 years, for the wild wonders of Raja Ampat in West-Papua! We currently live in ‘the last paradise on Earth’, a true diving paradise.
My mission? Unveiling Indonesia’s hidden gems through my writing and content. Every spot, every dish, every ritual – I’m diving in! And I’m here to spark that adventurous spirit in you, encouraging you to go beyond Bali and discover all that Indonesia has to offer. Let’s embark on this journey together and let’s discover and travel Indonesia!
Ps. why the name Nona Holland? Well, since my first name Nienke is generally speaking a bit difficult to pronounce outside of the Dutch boarders I thought: let’s mix some things up!
Nona is the Moluccan word for ‘girl’ and Holland, obviously refers to my roots in the Netherlands.
